Abi Stockbridge works with painting and animated ‘shorts’ which often seek to embody musical fragments.
She is interested in evolving a semi-abstract language that illuminates and expresses feeling, memory, and resonating sound. She sometimes refers to these activities as “visualising ether”.
Abi studied painting (BA) at Camberwell College of Arts.
She also holds a Masters in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College. She recently initiated and facilitates the Critical Discourse Group which provides ongoing support for visual artists through peer-involved studio visits. She has also co-curated a number of exhibitions, and continues to actively explore new opportunities for collaborations with other artists, identifying and developing exhibition themes.
